Powell girls’ swimming extended its undefeated season on Tuesday, winning a varsity dual held at the Cody Rec Center.

The Panthers took down the Fillies 107-79 at the event, with 17 PHS swimmers notching personal bests.

Of the 12 events, PHS won seven. Winners included Elizabeth Liggett (200 freestyle), Lucia Harder (200 individual medley and 100 butterfly), Emma Karhu (1-meter six dives), Madison Lowery (100 freestyle) and Emma Mitchell (100 breaststroke). The 200 freestyle relay squad of Mitchell, Harder, Lowery and Liggett also picked up a win, recording a time of 1:49.31.

Sophomore Kami Jensen saw one of the Panthers’ most notable gains, improving on her personal-best score in the 1-meter six dive by 14.85 points to 191.8. That score was good for second place in the event.

Looking to continue its winning ways, PHS girls’ swim and dive will compete in a varsity quad at the Powell Aquatic Center on Saturday. According to head coach Bob Smartt, the team’s depth has directly correlated with the team’s dominance.

“We do especially well in three- and four-team invites where our large team and significant depth do well in the scoring,” Smartt said. “The bigger the base of the pyramid, the higher the top.”
