The Park County Library is ready for fall with a calendar filled with activities as we enjoy all the fun things fall brings.

The Powell Friends of the Library will be hosting a huge parking lot book sale on Saturday (Oct. 2) from 9 a.m. to noon. This is a wonderful chance to get a lot of books at the friends’ $5 bag sale; feel free to bring your own bag or we will have some for you at the sale.

The Powell Friends of the Library will also be hosting a Murder Mystery Night at the library, on Saturday, Oct. 23 at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. This is a great chance to support the Powell Library and enjoy a night of fun and mystery at the library. Tickets are available to purchase at the Powell Library. For more information, please contact the library.

All month long, the Powell Library will be offering a Murder Mystery Scavenger Hunt. Stop by the library and look for the clues to solve the mystery at the Lamplighter Inn.

The Park County Library will once again have a Literary Pumpkin event. Decorate a pumpkin as one of your favorite literary characters and we will display it the week of Oct. 25-30.

For the kids, join Ms. Renee at Baby and Toddler Time every Monday and Thursday from 10:30-11 a.m. Bring the little ones for nursery rhymes, songs, play and early literacy activities. Ms. Renee does a fabulous Storytime every Tuesday and Wednesday from 10:30-11 a.m. Stop by for wonderful stories, movement, craft and fun.

Kids can sign up for Thursday, Oct. 14 and/or Oct. 28 at 3:30 p.m. to read to a dog. This is a wonderful chance for kids to practice reading to the best kind of listener.

Lego Club for kindergarten through fifth grades will be Wednesday, Oct. 6 and Oct. 20 from 3:30-4:30 p.m.

Join us on Tuesday, Oct. 5 at 3:30 p.m. for a plant science presentation with Lonestar League 4-H. Kids join us Tuesday, Oct. 12 at 3:30 p.m. for cup stacking and Tuesday, Oct. 26 for Halloween crafts.

The Powell Library is offering an afternoon book discussion group on Tuesday, Oct. 5 at 2 p.m. and will be discussing “The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek.”  An evening book discussion group will be discussing “The Water Dancer” on Thursday, Oct. 14 at 6:30 p.m. Stop by the library to pick up a copy of the book.

The adult craft program this month will be Chalk Couture by Roberta Stafford. Join us on Thursday, Oct. 21 at 2 p.m. Limited space is available, with sign-ups required.

As always, stop by on Saturday, Oct. 2 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and every Thursday from 1-3 p.m. for the Friends Book Sale.

Kids, stop by the library on Oct. 29 at 2 p.m. for trick or treat fun.

Just a friendly reminder that the library will be closed Monday, Oct. 11 for Columbus Day.
