November happenings at the library

While November may be a short month, Park County Library has activities and resources to keep everyone busy. Park County Library kicked off November with a local author talk at the Cody Library by local favorite author, Tam DeRudder Jackson. She discussed her recent trip to Scotland and how it is part of her research on the “Talisman Series” and her latest book, “Tracker.” Jackson will also host an author talk at the Powell Library on Nov. 3 at 3 p.m.

Copies of the December book “Travel the World from your favorite chair” and copies of the book for the book discussion series, “The Sanatorium”can be picked up at the circulation desk at the library. 

Come to the Powell Library on Thursday at 7 p.m., for Adult Trivia Night, join us for a fun and challenging evening.  

Park County Library is pleased to offer a Wyoming Library to Business station at the Powell Library, to help local business owners and entrepreneurs. The Powell Library will be presenting the webinar, “So You Want to Start a Business” with Devan Costa-Cargill on hand to answer questions. Please join us on Wednesday, Nov. 16 at 6 p.m. for this informative discussion.   

A Writer’s Roundtable will be held on Thursday, Nov. 17 at 6 p.m., led by Jen Dare of Northwest College. This program is for anyone interested in creative writing. 

Join us for Adult Craft Night on Thursday, Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. where we will be making stamped cloth napkins for the holidays. Please sign up at the circulation desk.  

Powell Library has lots of fun filled activities for children. Join Ms. Renee every Monday and Thursday at 10:30 a.m. for Baby and Toddler Time and every Tuesday and Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. for Story Time. Kids may sign up to celebrate Thanksgiving with a fun craft on Tuesday, Nov. 15 at 3:30 p.m. Kids can come by on Nov. 30 at 3:30 p.m. for Lego Club, and have fun building a Lego Challenge.   

The Friends of the Powell Library will be hosting a Live Auction and Carnival on Nov. 12 as a fundraiser for the new Powell Library.  On Saturday, Nov. 12 from 11 a.m.-noon, food and carnival games will be available for the whole family and at noon the live auction will start. The architect design boards for the new Powell Library will also be on display for all to see. The Friends are asking for quality auction items to be donated on Friday from 10 a.m.-noon at the Powell Library. 

Stop by on Saturday from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. and every Thursday from 1-3 p.m. for the Powell Library Friends Book Sale. Stop by and take home as many books as you can and support the Powell Library.  

Please remember all Park County Libraries will be closed Friday, Nov. 11 in honor of Veterans Day. Also, all Park County Libraries will be closed Thursday, Nov. 24  through Sunday Nov. 27 for the Thanksgiving holiday. We will reopen for our normal operating hours on Monday, Nov. 28.

Do you want to help support the library and help create a new Powell Library? Then please consider joining the Park County Library Foundation. We are looking for Powell representation and would love to have the Powell community well represented. The foundation only meets a few times a year and we can even meet in the Powell Library.
