There was only one blemish in Northwest College’s yearly audit, and it was common across many similar organizations.
NWC received one significant deficiency and no internal control deficiencies nor issues of noncompliance in its yearly audit, done by CPA Brittany Wilson of accounting firm MHP.
“There were no significant issues and we felt the audit went very well,” Wilson said.
NWC President Lisa Watson said the deficiency, a result of the federal government continually changing requirements on many of its federal funds handed out during Covid, was frustrating and it provides staff with something to work on and improve on.
She also praised her staff for making it a relatively smooth process, which she contributed heavily to in her role as the college’s top financial person in addition to being the president as her old job remains unfilled.
“Its a comprehensive audit every single year,” she said. “A lot of people contributed to ensuring this year went well.”
