New Plaza Diane show features envelope art

Posted

Envelopes become a canvas for creativity in a new collective art show at Plaza Diane Community Center for the Arts.

Individuals or groups of family or friends of any age are being invited to use mailing envelopes and imagination to create small-scale artwork — of drawings, watercolor pieces, collages, sketches or even sculptural works. Envelopes can be reused junk mail or from personal letters.

Some pieces are already on display, but the show will evolve as envelopes are added. Envelopes can be delivered to Plaza Diane on Thursdays during Plaza @5 events or dropped off at the Powell Tribune, 128 S. Bent St. People who are out of the area can mail the artwork directly to Plaza Diane, P.O. Box 1292, Powell, WY, 82435.

The show will also serve as a fundraiser for the center. Artists can donate their envelope for sale at $2 or buy back their own envelope for $20; participants can also choose to not sell their pieces.

If you have received an art envelope in the past and would like to show it off at the center, Plaza Diane will “take good care of it” and return it to you when the show concludes.

Submitted envelopes may be picked up after 5 p.m. on Thursday, July 15.
