Nancy Carol (Hale) Muranko, of Powell, passed away Sunday, Dec. 13, 2020, from complications associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.

Born on May 3, 1945, in War, West Virginia, to Ezra and Bertha (Davis) Hale, she was a 1963 graduate of Big Creek High School, in War. Shortly after graduating, she struck out on her own to Washington, D.C., where she met the love of her life, Andrew (Andy) Muranko. They were married in October 1965.

Mrs. Muranko was loved by all who knew her and left an everlasting impression on everyone she encountered. This is especially true of her friends and colleagues of the Blake School/Munger Academy in Sterling, Virginia, where she was a teacher for 19 years. She was known for her kindness and generosity and a love for all living creatures. She truly was a child of mother earth.

Mrs. Muranko was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Andrew Dale Muranko of Cleveland, Ohio; her parents Ezra and Bertha Hale of English, West Virginia; and her sisters Helen (Toots) and Betty of Kenley, North Carolina.

She is survived by her older brother Thomas (Tom) Hale (Phyllis) of Union Town, Ohio; stepdaughter Christine (John) Wickleman of Cody; son Scott (Melissa) Muranko of Phoenix, Arizona; son Kevin (Laura) of Powell, Wyoming; grandchildren, Joshua Stell and Jodi Stell of Avon, Ohio, Jeremy (Molly), Jared (Lyndsay), Jason Muranko of Arizona, Carolyn Muranko of Florida, and Kaylee DeGlau of Powell. She was also blessed with eight great-grandchildren (Vaughn, Andrew, Sophia, Liam, Luke, Landon, Sadie Mae, and Israeli Nathan) and a host of nieces and nephews who loved her very much.
