For the last year, Janita Krayniak has filled the pastorship for First United Methodist Church in Powell and the Lovell Methodist Church as well.
Soon she will be bringing the message of God to a third church — Powell’s Union Presbyterian Church. Powell Presbyterians have been unsuccessfully searching to fill a pastoral vacancy for many months.
Krayniak has agreed to become, in her words, “a spiritual band-aid” while the search continues.
“Seeing a need, I view it as an opportunity to help out while the search continues or until there is a pastor available,” she explained. “I’m looking forward to serving the church.”
It will take a little juggling of Sunday schedules. Methodist worship services are at 9 a.m. Sunday at Lovell and 11 a.m. at Powell.
Fitting into that schedule, Union Presbyterian Sunday services in Powell will move from 10:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Lay leadership will begin the Presbyterian 10 a.m. service in Powell, with Krayniak coming from Lovell to provide the pastoral message and conclude the service.
The changed church schedule will take effect Sept. 19.
Krayniak has helped out at Union Presbyterian Church before, directing the bell choir when the Presbyterian director of music was sidelined temporarily for health reasons.
