The Meeteetse Museums invites the public to attend a Saturday workshop on stewarding the past, which will include a trip to a historic ranch.
Running from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., the workshop features presentations by: Lawrence Todd, professor emeritus of anthropology at Colorado State University; Joe Daniele of the State Historic Preservation Office’s Site Stewardship Program; Bighorn National Forest Archaeologist Michael Stites; and Shoshone National Forest Archaeologist Kyle Wright.
Participants will learn how to channel their passion for local and regional history before taking a visit to the historic Double Dee Ranch, guided by Wright. During the trip, participants will learn about caretaking both historic and archaeological sites.
There is no cost for the workshop, but participants are expected to provide their own lunch and transportation to the off-site tour. Interested participants are encouraged to RSVP so the museums can ensure the correct number of handouts and seating, but drop-ins are welcome. For more information, call 307-868-2423 or email info@meeteetsemuseums.org. The museums are open Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and are located at 1947 State St. in Meeteetse.
