“If memories are all we can take with us — make good ones!”

Marsha Shryock Spencer (Maha) passed away peacefully Sept. 20, 2024 surrounded by her family. Marsha was born June 4, 1952 in Durango, Colorado, to Ida Lou and Buford Shryock. She grew up in Aztec, New Mexico and graduated from Aztec High School as a skilled majorette, and potential Olympic caliber athlete in hurdling. After high school she lived in Boulder, Colorado, and met her love, Bryan Lee Spencer. The rest of her life was spent caring for others and cooking great food with love in every bite. She was the best mom and Maha and always said the best time of her life was time spent raising her children. She was caretaker to her Grandma Guffey in New Mexico and worked as a ranch cook in Walden, Colorado, while she raised her children. She worked as a CNA in Fort Collins, Colorado, and moved to Cody, Wyoming, in 1995 where she continued her CNA work and helped to care for her grandbabies. She found her forever home in Cody and lived the rest of her life to the fullest with the many friends and family she made along her journey. She had an extended family with extra children and other friends that held a special place in her heart. She was a wild spirit with a heart of gold that made an impact on everyone she met. “Don’t tell them I’m gone. I am still, and in the stillness, you feel me there. May the light of love guide you!” Her light will continue to guide us until we meet again.

She was preceded in death by her love, Brian Spencer, her parents, Ida Lou and Buford Shryock, her niece, Michelle Eaton, and her grandparents. She is survived by her loving sisters: Sheryl Rose, Kathy Pappan (Michael) and Laureen Shryock, nieces and nephews: Gerrik Pappan, Sandy Aguirre, Jesse Rose and her ever thankful children: Neb and Heidi Spencer, Chama and Jeff Peters, and Kywani and Justin Heath; her babies (grandchildren), Keshla Gonzales (DJ), Jordyn Spencer (Avery), Kiara Peters, Mikayla Peters, Jalen Peters, Phoenix Heath, Takota Heath and her Jukiya Heath. A celebration of life will be held at a later time.

Condolences can be shared on Marsha’s memorial page at BallardFH.com.
