Loretta “Lori” Ann Mertins, went into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on Jan. 16, 2021.

Lori was born in Merrill, Michigan, on July 30, 1947, to Norman E. Coty and Myrtle M. (LeBaron) Coty, and was raised with nine siblings in Midland, Michigan.

Lori married the love of her life, John Henry Mertins, on Sept. 4, 1971, in Midland, and they were married for 49 years. Lori was a devoted mom to three daughters, an energetic nana to six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Lori is survived by her husband, John, and their daughters: Carmen Syed, Jennifer Cole, and Leanne (Scott) London; their grandchildren: Jonathan Syed, Mackenzie, Jaighden and Delainey Rayment, and Zachary and Elyssa Cole; and their great-granddaughter, Brynlee McCollum.

Lori was preceded in death by her parents and three siblings: Constance (Connie) Cross, Merlin Coty and Norman Coty.

She is survived by her siblings: Carmen Coty, Gary Coty, Ernest Coty, Madeline (Sue) Vajda, Raymond Coty and Kenneth Coty, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service will be held at the Garland Community Church of God, 900 Sheridan Avenue, in Powell, at 3 p.m. MST on Saturday, Jan. 23, 2021. Cremation will have taken place, so there will not be a graveside service. A live-stream of the celebration will be shown on the Facebook Group “Lori Mertins Celebration of Life.”

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Hospital or a charity of choice, in Lori Mertins’ name.
