Linda Kay Spiva Bessler, of Worland, formerly of Powell, passed away on Sept. 30, 2021, at St. Vincent Healthcare in Billings.
Linda, the daughter of George and Bea Shanley Spiva, was born on July 21, 1949, in Riverton, Wyoming. She was raised in Shoshoni, and in 1956 moved with her family to Casper. She graduated from Natrona County High School in 1967 and attended Casper College.
Linda married Alan “Bud” Bessler on Nov. 12, 1971, in Casper. Throughout their married life, they lived in Germany, when Bud was in the service, north of Douglas, Powell, and finally, Worland.
Linda and Bud were the parents of three children, Gary, Lee and Kacey. Whatever they were involved with, she was always there and was a very faithful supporter of their 4-H and FFA activities. After the children married and gave her wonderful grandchildren, Granny didn’t miss any of their activities, games or livestock shows. She is remembered as a loving wife, mom, sister, daughter, aunt and Granny. Linda was known for her kindness, warm smile and her easy way of mothering all.
Preceding her in death were her father George Spiva, sister Patty Skogen, infant sister Norma Kay, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ray and Janice Bessler.
Survivors include her mother Bea Spiva of Casper, Wyoming; her husband Bud of Worland; sons: Gary (Teresa) Bessler of Buffalo, Wyoming; and Lee (Jaime) Bessler of Powell; daughter Kacey (Chad) Green of Craig, Colorado; brother, George (Debbie) Spiva of Casper; brother-in-law Craig Skogen of Casper; and her six grandchildren: Colby, Cassidy, Brooke, Blake, Carter and Tate. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, and many, many extended family members.
A memorial fund, to benefit her grandchildren, has been established. Memorials may be sent to: Linda Bessler Memorial Fund, First Bank of Wyoming, PO Box 907, Powell, WY 82435.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, Oct. 8 at 11 a.m., at the Shoshoni Senior Center.
