Lawrence F. Neher, 93, passed away on Nov. 26, 2019, at his home in Powell.

He was born Feb. 24, 1926, in Elgin, North Dakota, to Ludwig and Pauline (Zeller) Neher. He lived in Powell since 1964.

He served in the U.S. Army in the 11th Airborne Division, from November 1944 to November 1946. He was stationed in Japan during the occupation after World War II.

He was married on Oct. 19, 1950, to Lillian Ketterling. Following his service, he was a “jack of all trades” and a mechanic, until he retired from Superior Machine.

He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, the VFW, and the American Legion. He enjoyed playing golf and cards.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lillian, son Guy Patrick, son-in-law Dan, and all his siblings.

He is survived by his son Loren Neher; daughters, Holly Michaelis and Joy (Dale) Spomer, and his grandchild MichealJon Spomer.

Funeral services will be held Dec. 2, at 10 a.m., at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Powell, with Rev. Lee Wisroth officiating. A visitation will begin one hour before the funeral.

Pallbearers include Jim Thompson, Kevin Graham, Ken Heny, Scott Heny, Doug Heny, and Dale Spomer. Honorary Pallbearers include MichealJon Spomer and Ken Witzeling.
