Continuing an undefeated start to the season and kicking off the new year with another dominant win, the Powell Panther junior varsity girls’ basketball team defeated Rocky Mountain 67-27 in its home opener.
A strong start from Kindyle Floy and Hali Hancock in the first quarter helped Powell build a 19-11 lead, before a balanced second quarter pushed the lead to 37-18.
In a lower scoring third quarter the Panthers held a 47-24 lead heading into the fourth quarter before a dominant 20-3 fourth quarter led to a 67-27 win.
All eight players scored in the game, led by Floy with 17, Kaedenze Carter had 15 and Hancock and Ava Teten each
had 10.
Maddie Valdez had five points, Autumn Kidd and Shelby Zickefoose each had four and Leah Graham had two.
“This was a well-rounded game for our group and a nice way to come back out of the break,” coach Troy Hildebrand said.
The Panthers will head on the road for the Big Horn Basin Classic to take on Wyoming Indian on Friday in Thermopolis.
