At the high school level, this weekend’s home events include the PHS Wrestling Invite, which starts at 1 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. Saturday at Powell High School. The event will include pool wrestling if needed and bracket matchups following the conclusion of pool play. Both varsity and junior varsity will be taking part in the wrestling invitational.

Additionally, the Powell High School boys’ swim team will host a quad meet at 5 p.m. Friday at the Powell Aquatic Center. The swimmers and divers will then make the short trip to Cody on Saturday to take part in an invitational starting at 10 a.m.

As for the PHS girls’ varsity and junior varsity basketball teams, they will make the brief trip to Lovell to take part in the East/West Classic.

The varsity girls will kick off the event on Friday with their first game at 1:30 p.m. against Tongue River and their second game at 6 p.m. against Big Horn. The varsity girls’ final game will be at noon Saturday noon against Buffalo.

Junior varsity will play on Friday at 4:30 p.m. against Rawlins, and will play at 9 a.m. against Tongue River and at 1:30 p.m.against Buffalo on Saturday.

The lone Panther team making a longer road trip will be the boys’ basketball squad, as they head to Buffalo to take part in their own version of the East/West Classic. Varsity boys will kick off the action at noon on Friday against Big Horn, and then play Buffalo at 6 p.m. The third and final game for the boys will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday against Rawlins.

Powell’s junior varsity squad will play Big Horn at 1:30 p.m. on Friday and will play again at 7:30 p.m. against Buffalo. The JV’s final game will be on Saturday at 3 p.m. against Rawlins.

Meanwhile, Northwest College basketball will return back to the Cabre Gym for the first time since early November.

The women’s team will play its home opener on Friday at 7:30 p.m. against the Carroll College junior varsity, and play Carroll again on Saturday at noon.

The men’s team will play two matchups against the Northwest Alumni All-Stars — one on Friday at 5:30 p.m. and another on Saturday at 2 p.m. The men’s team will then wrap up all the action on Sunday when they face Williston State College at 1 p.m.
