PUBLIC NOTICE
The Wyoming Public Service Commission (Commission) approved the Application of Montana-Dakota Utilities Co. (MDU or the Company) to pass-on a wholesale commodity cost decrease of $0.100 per dekatherm (Dth) to Residential and Firm General Service customers, a decrease of $0.203 per Dth for Small and Large Interruptible Service Customers, and an increase of $1.857 per Dth to Optional Seasonal customers, effective for usage on and after October 1, 2021. The proposed changes are primarily due to an increase in the overall wholesale commodity price of natural gas, a decrease in the CBA surcharge, and the elimination of the Non-Core Revenue Credit.
The typical residential customer using 7 Dth in October 2021, will receive a bill decrease of approximately $0.70 (-1.08%) before taxes. Actual bills will vary with usage.
The proposed pass-on results in a projected dollar-for-dollar decrease of approximately $20,600 in the Company’s October 2021 revenues. The decrease does not change the Company’s authorized or actual rate of return.
Commission Rule Chapter 3, Section 26 allows a utility to pass on to its customers known or projected wholesale commodity cost increases or decreases on a dollar-for-dollar basis, subject to public notice, opportunity for hearing and refund.
MDU’s Application is available at the Commission’s offices in Cheyenne, Wyoming, or online at: https://dms.wyo.gov/external/publicusers.aspx (Enter Record No. 15938).
Anyone desiring to file a statement, intervention petition, protest, or request for hearing must file with the Commission on or before November 25, 2022. An intervention or request for hearing must set forth its grounds and the position and interest of the petitioner. Please reference Docket No. 30013-379-GP-21 in your communications.
If you wish to intervene or request a public hearing that you will attend, or to make a statement, protest, or public comment, and you require reasonable accommodation for a disability, please contact the Commission at (307) 777-7427 or 2515 Warren Avenue, Suite 300, Cheyenne, Wyoming 82002, to make arrangements.
