Gas cost increase

PUBLIC NOTICE
The Wyoming Public Service Commission (Commission) approved the Amended Application of Montana-Dakota Utilities Co. (MDU or the Company) to pass on a commodity (gas) cost increase of $0.113 per Dth to its Residential, Firm General Service, Small Interruptible, and Large Interruptible customers and an increase of $0.116 to its Optional Seasonal customers, effective for use on and after March 1, 2021. MDU requested a waiver of certain provisions in its Rate 88 tariff in order to remove the previously approved Commodity Balancing Account (CBA) credit of ($0.369) per Dth and replace it with a CBA surcharge of $0.00 per Dth. The Commission’s approval is subject to notice, protest, intervention, refund, change, further investigation, opportunity for hearing and further order of the Commission.
The average MDU residential customer using 10.4 Dth in March 2021 will see a monthly bill increase of approximately $1.18 (1.84%) before taxes. Actual bills will vary with usage.
The proposed pass-on results in a projected dollar-for-dollar increase of approximately $33,000 in the Company’s March 2021 revenues. The increase does not change the Company’s authorized rate of return.
Commission Rule Chapter 3, Section 26 allows a utility to pass on to its customers known or projected commodity cost increases or decreases on a dollar-for-dollar basis, subject to public notice, opportunity for hearing and refund.
MDU’s Amended Application is on file at the Commission’s offices in Cheyenne, Wyoming, and is available for inspection by any interested person during regular business hours or online at https://psc.wyo.gov.
Anyone desiring to file a statement, intervention petition, protest or request for a public hearing in this matter must file in writing with the Commission on or before April 16, 2021. Please mention Docket No. 30013-372-GP-21 (Record No. 15715) in your communications.
