Dear editor:

We all have heard a lot of yammering about the state of the U. S. economy along with all the finger pointing and blame games as to who is responsible and how and who can get this country “back on track” so to speak.

I recently returned from Europe and I’ve heard and seen similar economic struggles there. It truly is a global economy as Europe is similarly experiencing staff shortages, high rates of inflation, high gas prices, supply chain shortages etc. Those countries, just like the U. S., also are in recovery mode following pandemic shut downs and the economic aftermath resulting from it. In addition, there is a war going on in the eastern part of that continent, which is not only affecting those countries, but the U. S. and around the globe. No country was untouched by the pandemic and the effects are still being felt. Recovery from the pandemic is happening, though not as quickly as it struck. 

I don’t think political bickering and pushing back gets this country anywhere except stalled. When people are willing to compromise and come together for the good of the whole, then I think recovery in the U. S. would gain traction a whole lot faster and take us all farther, even if it is all we can do together.
