Dear Editor:
I’ve recently read about the cluttering of trash in space, which brings to mind waste at a more local level.
Some of our board members and employees at Powell Valley Recycling, who live within the City of Powell, have noticed cardboard boxes being thrown into city trash bins. All trash, including cardboard tossed into bins, ends up in a landfill. Landfills charge tipping fees and cost all of us taxpayers money to build and maintain.
Corrugated cardboard boxes are one of the easiest materials that can be recycled. So instead of tossing that cardboard box into the trash bin in the alley, why not choose to recycle it with Powell Valley Recycling?
Powell Valley Recycling collects corrugated cardboard and other recyclable materials at our installation on Road 10 on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. We are also open every Saturday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. The City of Powell also provides large blue dumpsters scattered around town that are readily available for businesses to recycle corrugated cardboard boxes (only).
Powell Valley Recycling is a local nonprofit business dedicated to conserving natural resources and reducing the flow of solid waste going into our landfills. Our hard-working employees, who believe in our mission, have been commended for their helpfulness when our patrons arrive at Powell Valley Recycling. Our patrons appreciate that our employees are there to help unload recyclable materials, explain what we take or not and why, as well as assist our patrons in further sorting of the materials they bring us. To learn what other recyclable materials Powell Valley Recycling takes, visit our Facebook page or stop by during business hours to pick up a list from one of our employees.
From all of us at Powell Valley Recycling, thank you for recycling with us!
