Curtain comes to a close on dance season

Victoria’s School of Dance wrapped up a long season of traveling around the region with its annual dance recital in Powell.

The theme of “Our Toy Story” featured students from ages 3 through 18 and helped showcase their improvement over the year.

About 40-50 students performed in the show, according to instructor Victoria Danovsky.

“So much goes into that one magical night,” she said. “I could not do it all without my tech crew, backstage help, the grandmothers who spend hours ironing costumes and making them perfect for the show, the talented ladies who bring my stage backdrops and stage props to reality, photographers, videographers and all who work so hard to make the performance happen.”

The studio’s dancers participated in three competitions from February through April in Montana and Colorado and wrapped up its competition season at the end of April after attending the Big Sky Games in Montana.

Demi Danovsky, Harlow Croy, Ali Scott, Sofia Parker and Kinzee Riedinger made up the junior competition team. Riedinger placed second in teen lyrical solo.

Demi Danovsky placed first in junior tap solo, junior lyrical solo and junior jazz solo. She was also named the overall junior jazz winner.

In the junior competition for group, the team placed first in jazz and second in lyrical.

“Our dancers worked so hard and earned everything they won,” Victoria Danovsky said. “I am so proud of them and excited to see the future.”

The studio is currently accepting applications for the fall semester and will begin its 14th year on September 6. Girls and boys ages 3 to 18 are eligible to enroll.

The studio will be hosting Marcea Lane for a week-long course for ages 8 to 18 in September. Lane has starred in music videos such as “Thriller” and is currently the Revive Dance Convention Director.

The studio’s dancers will be working toward performing at the Epcot Center in Disney World next summer.
