Recognizing that CPAP supply is a growing business, Alpine Medical of Cody, Worland and Powell is building out its line of business to provide resources and services for sleep apnea patients.
Alpine has been a CPAP supplier for about five years. CPAP stands for continuous positive airway pressure.
“We bought a home oxygen company in Worland to provide breathing-related services to the Big Horn Basin,” said co-owner Chip Newton, adding to their main business of supplying home medical equipment, such as wheelchairs, hospital beds, walkers and patient lifts.
Chip and Bonnie Newton have operated their business for about eight years.
Alpine Medical’s home base is on Big Horn Avenue in Cody. The company recently moved to a new location in Powell at 145 S. Bent St., having purchased the building which formerly housed the Red Stag Bar and Lounge. The business is in operation there while undergoing finishing touches.
Powell Valley Healthcare announced in January that it will no longer provide CPAP devices, supplies and services, leaving users to seek different providers. One of the options is an automated service for mail order supplies.
Chip believes patients seem much happier dealing with a real person and a local business.
“We work closely with physicians, patients and their insurance company so the services get covered. Our staff is very knowledgeable to help with the patient needs and give a personal touch,” he said.
Alpine Medical points to a June 10 open house of its remodeled Powell facility.
