The Wild West Players will hold auditions Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, Feb. 3, 4 and 5, for the community theatre production of the children’s play “Stone Soup” coming up this spring.
Auditions start at 6:30 p.m. each evening in the Nelson Performing Arts Center Auditorium in Powell.
Fred Ebert, director of the Wild West Players and NWC assistant professor of speech communications, said he’s looking for adult actors and backstage positions for the children’s production. This theatrical version of the “Stone Soup” provides a positive moral message as well as a sense of encouragement for young children.
“This will be a particularly fun production set to perform for nearly 2,500 elementary students from around the Big Horn Basin,” Ebert said. “This version of the story supports the idea that it’s important to tell the truth, and more importantly, that boys or girls can do anything they set their minds to — including slaying a dragon!”
For those who are interested, college credit can also be earned for acting and creating scenery, costumes, lighting and music.
The performance will be held April 22, 23 and 24.
