Community Art Show opens Wednesday

Posted

More than 200 works from local artists are going on display at Cody Country Art League. On Wednesday evening, their work will be out on display at an opening reception and awards ceremony for the art league’s 56th Annual Community Art Show.

“We wondered on the tails of COVID if the community would have as much time as they’d had last year to create pieces,” said Gallery Director Rene Huge, but artists in the area came through. By the time the deadline arrived last week, the Cody Country Art League had received 233 entries.

“Our judge, Reid Christie, definitely has his work cut out for him,” Huge said.

The public can also join in by voting for the people’s choice award ahead of Wednesday’s ceremony, which runs from 5-7 p.m. behind the Cody Country Art League’s downtown location (836 Sheridan Ave.).

“The pieces in this show are amazing, ranging from amateur to professional, youth to adult,” Huge said, adding, “It really is a wonderful show!”

The artwork is hanging at the league through July 31, with pieces offered for sale. For more information, call 307-587-5397.
