Dear editor:
Having family in both Powell and Cody, I read the Powell Tribune news item: “Cody temple again cleared to move forward” (Aug. 29 issue). As the article noted, a judge approved the project and public meetings were held. Furthermore, a building permit was issued. I can sympathize with the neighbors being a tad leery of a sprawling 4-acre project unfolding there, including nighttime lighting. However, since the specifics were presented and a permit issued, I agree with the judge. I have relatives who are LDS (Mormons). I am a baptized Roman Catholic, but I have visited other churches including Methodist, Baptist, Lutheran, Episcopal, Presbyterian, Quakers and even some Mormon services. Obviously, I cannot get into an LDS temple, not having a “Temple Recommend” (sort of a passport issued by an LDS bishop). But, I have prayed outside of various LDS temples in Salt Lake, St. George, Provo and Logan, Utah (among others). I have even prayed outside the temple in Nauvoo, Illinois. I hope the temple will be built and I hope it will be religiously beneficial for those who can enter it.
