The Cody Library will host a family friendly event, “Treasure Hunt for Revolutionary War Patriots,” organized by the local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), on Saturday, Nov. 9 from 10 a.m. to noon. The event is designed for children 12 and under, but older children and families are welcome to participate.
During the event, participants will explore the children’s and main sections of the library to find and interact with six to 10 historical figures from the Revolutionary War era. Some DAR members will be dressed in period costumes, portraying notable figures like Betsy Ross, a young female spy, a well-known frontiersman, a Continental soldier and a militiaman.
Children are encouraged to ask questions and learn about the roles played by these patriots. After completing the treasure hunt, participants will take part in a brief ceremony to recite the Pledge of Allegiance and receive a flag lapel pin. There will also be a drawing for six DAR Patriots coloring books, and free Revolutionary War coloring pages with crayons will be available for all.
The Cody Library is excited to partner with DAR for this interactive learning experience, offering local families an opportunity to explore the history of the Revolutionary War in an engaging way. For more information email bighorndar@gmail.com or call the Cody Library at 307-527-1884.
