The work of Cody artist Cynthia Weed is on display at the Nicolaysen Art Museum (NIC) in Casper from now through April 19.

Her exhibit, titled “For Those of You Who Missed Your Last Connection,” is among a half-dozen women featured in the museum’s first group of exhibiting artists for 2020.

An opening reception for The NIC’s “The Year of the Woman” is set to run from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Friday. In addition to light hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar, the free event will include “artist talks from six amazing female artists,” organizers say.

Featured alongside Weed are Neltje, Ginny Butcher, Leah Hardy, Elaine Henry and Mary Jane Edwards.

Weed is a mixed media artist known for her unexpected combinations of words, vintage photographs, and lost objects that tell a story in a defined space. A Wyoming native, Cynthia’s pieces often feature “the art of the possible.”

Certain objects, pictures, or bits and pieces take on a new life in her hands, according to a bio from The NIC. Drawn to the past and to the stories of each image, she invites the viewer to ask “Where has this been, who has held it, cherished it, lost it? And how did it get to me.”

Weed’s illustrations are featured in the new book, “The Pie Letters” by Colletta Meiers.
