Rev. Charles A. Burger, 83 years old, was born on May 24, 1941, in Powell, Wyoming to Charles (Chuck) and Marie Burger. He transitioned from his own home in Powell into the arms of Jesus on Oct. 1, 2024. He was a licensed electrician and worked in Elk Basin starting in the fall of 1981 until he retired at the age of 74. He was an ordained minister with The Missionary Church International (TMCI) where he led both Bible Studies and Men’s Conferences. Charlie, as he was known to family and friends, was a sensitive and thoughtful man, a servant and an example to many.
His high school experience was enhanced by his participation in the high school swim team for four years. Each year, he was state champion in the 400-yard freestyle and set the state record. Charlie’s passion was to experience the great outdoors through hunting and also especially with his camera.
During the Cold War his electronics training got him a job with RCA where he worked as an operator in one of the early warning radio stations constructed in the Aleutians. When he returned to Wyoming, he worked side by side with his father at Chuck’s Modern Electric. He loved deep sea fishing and enjoyed his fishing trips to Mexico and also free water fishing in Canada and Alaska.
Charles served five years in the United States Navy and was stationed in Key West, Florida when the Cuban Missile Crisis occurred. While he was stationed there, President John F. Kennedy visited the base shortly before he was assassinated.
He lived a full and rich life and was greatly loved by his wife, son, daughter, grandchildren and sister.
Charles is survived by his wife of 49 years, Cherie Burger, his son Jedidiah Burger, his daughter Channiel Hine, his three grandchildren; Allen, Angel and Brooklynn Jenkins, and his sister Glo Reetz. Charles will be profoundly missed.
Services were Saturday, Oct. 5, 2024, at Streams of Life Church in Cody, Wyoming.
A Memorial Fund has been established at First Bank in benefit of Charles Burger.
Thank you for all your kindness and prayers for his family.
