Calls to join Texas lawsuit are hypocritical

Dear Editor:

Quoting the Cody Enterprise issue of Dec. 10, “A letter by the state Legislators alleges in part that the four states destroyed that trust and compromised the security and integrity of the 2020 election.” A number of Park County legislators signed on to this letter.

If anyone has destroyed the trust of the 2020 election, it is Donald Trump and the Republican Party, acting like spoiled children willing to blow up the system rather than accept the fact that they didn’t get their way.

A few weeks ago I asked a Republican friend of mine, “Do you think the election was rigged?”

His response was, “There were irregularities.”

Ya think?!? We’re in the middle of a pandemic. As of today, 300,000 Americans have died. There’s a lot to be said about the Republican response to the pandemic (none of it good), but in regards to its effects on this election, of course it’s been unusual! More people voted by mail than ever before. I voted by mail! Why is no one trying to overturn the results of the Wyoming election, where there was an unusually high number of Trump voters per capita compared to anywhere else in the country?

And Wyoming, that beacon of rugged individualism, with an unofficial motto of “You Can’t Tell Me What To Do” is perfectly happy to tell some other state how to run its business? Hypocrites!

The hypothesis is, a cabal of conspirators manipulated the election. The manipulation was so effective that neither Trump’s “crack legal team” nor his lackey of an attorney general, with all the resources available to him, could find any evidence (remember, 50 failed court cases and counting). I should think that a cabal able to pull this off would have been smart enough to manipulate down-ballot races as well, creating a super-majority in the House and Senate and thus enabling world-ending legislation like health care and pandemic relief.

But one important requirement to being a good little conspiracy theorist is that you have to be willing to abandon critical thinking.
