Barbara Jean (Hammack) Bessler went peacefully to her Lord on Oct. 23, 2020.

She was born on April 23, 1935, to Hubert and Rosa Hammack in Midwest, Wyoming. She was the seventh child born to this union. She attended school in Midwest until her father was transferred to Elk Basin, Wyoming. She then attended school in Powell and graduated with the Class of 1953.

She married John Bessler on Aug. 5, 1955. To this union three children were born: Beverly Jean (Bessler) Deiss, Robert John (Jolanta) and Christine Louisa (Darryl) Olson.

Barbara worked 30 years at the Powell hospital in the dietary department. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She was a Girl Scout leader for 10 years.

Besides two of her surviving children, she is also survived by her grandchildren: Jodi (Mike) Arneson, Kelly (Heather) Deiss, Jessi (Tim) Poley, Beth’L (Austin) Krieger, Barry (Brandy) Haskins, Brittany (Bryant) Hansen, and Shane (Jessica) Bessler. Her eight great-grandchildren who survive her are: Nichol (Ren) Arneson, Cole Arneson, Deacon Poley, Brandon Haskins, Brody Haskins, and Brienna Haskins, along with two great-great-grandchildren: Trae Arneson and Brollie Utter. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Fred (Sandy) Bessler and sisters-in-law: Ida Bessler, Janice Bessler, Janet Bessler and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers and sisters, her daughter Christine, her son-in-law Darryl Olson and her husband John.

The family will have a memorial for Barbara and John Bessler on Sunday, Nov. 8, at the American Legion beginning at 10 a.m. Due to the Covid pandemic, there is a 50 person limit at the memorial.
