A Memorial Day service will be held at 10 a.m. at the American Legion Post 26 in Powell. A light reception will follow.
The American Legion Auxiliary is also preparing poppy memorial wreaths to place at Crown Hill Cemetery. The poppies in the wreaths are made by disabled and hospitalized veterans, who are paid for the poppies they make. For some it is their only income.
The auxiliary is seeking organizations and individuals to sponsor the wreath presentation. The wreaths may be purchased for $5 each and may be presented by a club or business at the Memorial Day program; if no one can attend on their behalf, a veteran or auxiliary member can place the wreath. Donations for the Powell Poppy Day are also being accepted.
