The spirit of Christmas will take over downtown Powell on Friday and Saturday for the annual ChristmasFest weekend of events the first weekend of December.
There will be cocoa, caroling, live musical entertainment, holiday crafts for kids, visits with Santa all capped off with a Lighted Christmas Parade this Saturday at 5:30 p.m. The event is co-sponsored by Plaza Diane, Powell Rotary and PEP, Powell Chamber in cooperation with the Park County Travel Council.
The event is in its third year after taking over for the decades-long run of Country Christmas.
“We’re pretty excited to build on the annual first week in December holiday tradition,” said Toby Bonner, Plaza Diane board member.
New to this year’s ChristmasFest will be a North Pole tucked in amongst the Enchanted Forest at Plaza Diane, highlighted by a Tiny House constructed by Northwest College’s Building Trades students. Raffle tickets will be sold by the NWC students and the tiny structure will be given away later this holiday season.
“It has power, is heated and will be dressed up with holiday decor for the Friday and Saturday event,” Bonner said.
Gingerbread cookies will be for sale Friday and Saturday at Plaza Diane.
Northwest College will be a part of the Christmas spirit as well, as the college will hold a free Parade of Trees and Tree Lighting Ceremony at 4 p.m. Thursday (today) at Hinckley Library.
