An open letter to Sen. R.J. Kost and Rep. Jamie Flitner

Dear Editor:

George Washington said, “Government is not reason; It is not eloquence; It is force! Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master.”

In 2007 our property tax was right at $700. Our last in 2018 was $1,078.95. It is not the nature of government, federal or state, to curb its appetite.

My wife and I have been retired, our income is static. I’m sure there are many in the same circumstance. There needs to be a break, a consideration for seniors who need to be able to afford to live in their homes. There is little doubt those who purport to represent us will be caught up by the influence of fellow legislators and many other parts of government to continue this ever-increasing property tax. It is predictable.
