Passenger ejected from vehicle

A one-vehicle rollover on Wyo. Highway 294, just north of U.S. Highway 14-A, resulted in minor injuries Wednesday morning.

Chase Paxinos, 20, of Billings, was driving a 2017 Freightliner for Montana Air Cartage south on Wyo. 294 when the vehicle left the road, said Wyoming Highway Patrol Trooper Rich Scovel. The truck crashed through a long section of guardrail before rolling down the embankment and knocking down a utility pole.

A co-driver, 24-year-old Ruben Rodriguez of Billings, was ejected from the vehicle, Scovel said.

The trooper said neither Rodriguez nor Paxinos was wearing a seat belt, and Paxinos was knocked unconscious for a short time.

The two men were treated by medical personnel and later released.

“Both of these guys were very lucky,” Scovel said Wednesday afternoon.

Rodriguez and Paxinos were each cited for failing to wear seat belts, while Paxinos was also cited for failure to maintain lane and a commercial vehicle violation, the trooper said.
