Jacqueline “Jacque” Fritz, 56, passed away at the Spirt Mountain Hospice House on Thursday, Feb. 21, 2019.

Jacque was born on June 24, 1962, in Powell, to Maxine and Russell Wainscott. She lived most of her childhood in Lovell. She moved to Cody in the mid-1980s and would remain in Cody for the rest of her life.

Jacque worked at West Park Hospital for almost 30 years. She started as a CNA before moving to housekeeping, then materials before getting her desired job as a medical coder. Her last job was her favorite job, working for St. Vincent Healthcare in Cody.

Jacque met the love of her life Jerry “Honeylump” on Aug. 1, 1987, and they became engaged on Oct. 31 and married on Jan. 23, 1988. Many wondered if only knowing each other for less than 6 months, how can they possibly make it? They spent 31 joy-filled years together, until her passing.

Jacque would always light up a room just by entering it. She had an incredible laugh; she had an amazing honesty and had the ability to make everyone feel welcome. Jacque never met a stranger — they were all friends unless they proved different. She enjoyed talking to Cody’s numerous tourists and traveled the world through their eyes. Her catchphrases were legendary, and she was never at a loss for words.

Her favorite actor of all time was John Wayne and just like him, her boldness always prevailed. Jacque’s thirst for knowledge was immense, always looking for ways to learn more.

Jacque was a longtime member of the Cody Elks, Cody Eagles and the Billings Moose Lodge (she claimed she was multispecies). She enjoyed attending Elks conventions and meeting all the wonderful people from across the state and from around the country.

Jacque was preceded in death by her parents and brother Max Wainscott.

She is survived by her husband Jerry; sisters Suz and Yogi Kobbe, Donna and Tom Sheilds and Sandy and Julian Chavez; and brother Mike and Toni Wainscott.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Feb. 28, 2019, at Ballard Funeral Home in Cody at 11 a.m. Graveside services will follow at Riverside Cemetery. A celebration of Jacque’s life will follow at the Cody Elks Lodge.

Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Cody Elks Memorial Fund.
