After a rough start to 2018, the Northwest College men’s basketball team got a bit of its groove back last week, posting Region IX North wins against Little Big Horn College and Miles Community College.
The Northwest College Lady Trappers traveled to Little Big Horn College Wednesday, Jan. 17, coming home with a 94-41 win. Then on Saturday, Miles Community College came to Cabre Gym and went back to Montana with a 68-55 victory.
Opening the conference portion of its season at home, the Powell High School girls’ basketball team picked up wins over Riverton on Friday and Lander on Saturday. The victories put the Lady Panthers’ record at 7-3 overall and 2-0 in Class 3A West’s North Quadrant.
After winning five of their first six games to start the 2017-18 season, the Northwest College men’s basketball team has gone just 4-8 since. They opened Region IX play last week with losses to Western Wyoming Community College and Central Wyoming College.
The Powell High School swim team beat Lander by one point at the Worland Invite on Saturday, 274.5 to 273.5. The Panthers also posted several personal best times along with new state qualifiers. Lander — which has won 21 consecutive Class 3A state titles — was among six other teams that Powell topped at the Worland Invite.
