The Powell High School wrestling team finished as the runners-up among the eight teams that competed in the 3A West Regional wrestling tournament in Lyman over the weekend.

Lady Panthers win two on road

The Lady Panthers basketball team locked up the top spot in the Class 3A West’s northern quadrant over the weekend, beating Lander on Friday and Riverton on Saturday.

The Northwest College wrestling team competed in the Rocky Mountain District Championships in Rock Springs Saturday, placing second as a team with three first place finishers, four second place finishers and a third place finish.

Northwest extends win streak to five

With just a couple of weeks to play in the regular season, the Northwest College women’s basketball team is poised to make a run in the playoffs, adding a pair of conference wins last week to push their record to 8-2 in Region IX North.

Freshman Emma Karhu is the first female wrestler at Powell High School, but her wrestling journey started at the age of 4, attending USA practices with her father and brother.

Panthers split home games

The Powell High School Panther basketball team split a pair of home games over the weekend, losing to Mountain View 56-49 on Friday, but beating Lyman 41-37 on Saturday.

Panther grapplers fall to Cody 38-32

The No. 6-ranked Cody Broncs wrestling team squared off against the No. 4 Powell Panthers Tuesday, Feb. 6, in the last home dual of the season for Powell. It came down to the final match, with the Broncs escaping with a 38-32 win.

Turnovers hurt Lady Panthers

The Powell High School girls’ basketball team has averaged 14.9 turnovers per game thus far in the season, but after a pair of losses at home last weekend against Mountain View and Lyman, that average is due to rise.

Lady Trappers add two more conference wins

The Northwest College women’s basketball team collected a pair of conference wins last week. The Lady Trappers downed Sheridan College on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 56-46 at home, and Western Wyoming Community College on Saturday, 83-63 at Rock Springs.

NWC Trappers struggle at home, on road

It’s been a season of extremes for the Northwest College men’s basketball program, with incredible highs and head-scratching lows coming in equal measure.
