Saturday was a beautiful sunny day in Cowley for the Rocky Mountain Invitational, and the spring-like weather inspired the Powell High School track and field teams to their strongest showing this season.
Still seething after a 5-0 dismantling at home at the hands of the Powell High School girls soccer team last month, the Worland Lady Warriors came to Panther Stadium Monday looking for a little payback.
The trees in our community have become an interesting topic of discussion of late, ranging from replacing trees along the canal on Coulter Avenue following last summer’s median removal to the impending demise of about 21 trees lining Absaroka Street as part of the street widening project. (Those living on Absaroka Street can find solace in that the trees removed will eventually be replaced.)
The last time the Powell High School boys soccer team squared off against Douglas, the Bearcats used the “boot and chase” strategy to great effect, earning a 3-2 win at the Todd Malonek Southwest Invitational in Green River.
After a search failed to find a permanent replacement for former Lady Trapper volleyball coach Shaun Pohlman, Northwest College has named former Pohlman assistant Bethany Conde as interim head coach for the 2018 season. The position will be reopened at season’s end.
Showing an eye for recruiting international talent, Northwest College men’s soccer coach Stan Rodrigues has signed two players from Brazil — Matheus Macedo and Rennan Labanca — to roam the pitch for the Trappers next season.
