Del Nose named Coach of the Year

A fourth-place finish at the University of Great Falls rodeo last weekend earned the Northwest College men’s rodeo team enough points to secure the No. 1 position in the Big Sky Region and earn a trip to the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper next month.

Play-in game slated Friday in Worland

Powell High School’s girls soccer team dropped its last two games of the season, setting up a Friday play-in game against Douglas, where the Lady Panthers will try to make the state tournament.

After two weeks of very poor weather and back-to-back canceled tournaments, the Powell High School golf team “had a great day in Sheridan to get back on the course” on Friday, said coach Troy Hildebrand.

Five members of the Powell High School track team traveled to Casper to compete in a best of the best meet last week — and two Panthers came home with medals.

Members of the Powell High School track team posted wins and personal bests last week — and several athletes pre-qualified for state — in the final invite before the regional competition in Rock Springs.

The Panther soccer team is preparing for a Friday play-in game after ending the regular season with a couple of home losses last weekend.

Women’s team maintains overall standing

Another weekend, another win for the Northwest College men’s rodeo team.

The Heart Mountain United Soccer teams already have two tournaments — and a couple first place finishes — under their cleats this spring.

Pioneer baseball season officially kicks off Saturday afternoon with a 12:30 p.m. opening ceremony.

With snow, rock slides and cold disrupting sporting events around Wyoming, that Powell High School was able to host a track meet last week was something of an accomplishment in itself.
