Both the boys and girls Powell High School soccer teams started off the season with wins over Pinedale on Friday.

Two players from the Northwest College women’s basketball team have been honored for the 2016-17 season.

A total of 546 swimmers across 26 teams descended on Laramie for the USA Swimming Winter State competition earlier this month. A dozen Powell Swim Club members were among the competitors and they finished third as a team in Division III and 20th overall.

Three Powell High School runners — JuliaKay O'Neill, Emily Sweet and Dylan Cordes — competed at the State Indoor Track meet on March 3-4 in Gillette.

With only about two months of practice under their belts, the Powell High School dance team placed fifth in the jazz dance competition at the 3A State Spirit competition in Casper on March 1.

The Powell High School junior varsity basketball team battled through illnesses, injuries and lineup changes this year to post a 7-12 record.

Powell High School’s cheerleaders recently took home a trophy at the State Spirit Competition in Casper on March 1. The PHS cheer squad competed in two events: non-stunt, where they placed fourth, and stunt, where they took sixth.

Powell players critical in third consecutive state championship

Thanks in part to their Powell players, the Park County Ice Cats hockey team recently won their third straight state championship title.

Three Powell sixth graders — Jack Beaudry, Kalin Hicswa and Andrew Walker — helped boost the Park County Ice Cat Peewee B hockey team to the Peewee B Championship in Sheridan Feb. 24-26.

Season ends with loss to Western Nebraska in Region IX Tourney

Nearly pulling off a massive upset at the Region IX tournament, the Northwest College women’s basketball team battled back against Western Nebraska Community College to force overtime, but the win was not meant to be.
