Buck named 3A West Coach of the Year
A strong season for the Powell High School football team also netted plenty of individual awards.
Seven PHS football players were named to the Class 3A all-state, nine were named as 3A West all-conference players and Powell’s head coach, Chanler Buck named 3A West Coach of the Year. On top of that, the Casper Star Tribune picked four Panthers to its “Super 25” lists of the state’s best players.
All-state and all-conference honors were awarded on both offense and defense.
Mason Olsen, T.J. Abraham, Eli Briggs and Carson Heinen all made the all-state list on offense. Max Gallagher, Brooks Asher and Paige Gann each made the list on the defensive side.
Those seven players each earned all-conference honors, as well. They were joined by Zach Easum on offense and Nate MaGill on defense.
Buck was named the 3A West Coach of the Year after a year in which the Panthers started 1-3, then won six straight to the reach the title game.
Four Powell athletes drew a mention in the Casper Star-Tribune’s Nov. 18 article titled, “Super 25: Meet Wyoming’s best high school football players.”
Abraham made the Super 25 — the Star-Tribune’s list of the state’s top 25 players — while Brooks Asher made the Super 25 second team and Max Gallagher and Mason Olsen made the third team.
This 26th annual list is composed by the Casper Star-Tribune using statistics, staff observations and coaches’ input.
