Panther track trio earns All-State honors

In addition to bringing home a haul of hardware to add to their trophy cases, Anissa Warner, Danna Hanks and Lexee Craig were also honored with a number of All-State certificates by finishing in the top two in their events.

Warner won all three of the jumping events — high, long and triple — thus earning All-State certification in each.

“I got All-State in high jump all four years and then all three last year and this year,” she said. “It’s been amazing and I wish I could relive it. But it is a great boost for me heading into college competition.”

Hanks earned All-State in both hurdles distances (100- and 300-meters), by placing second in each event this year, doubling her career total.

She had acheived All-State as a junior by taking second in the 100 hurdles and as a sophomore by taking first in the 4x100 relay with Brooke Lensegrav, SarahJean O’Neill and KaDee Harrison.

For Craig, reaching All-State for her second-place finish in the pole vault was her first and serves as a fitting finale for her high school career, which saw her tie the Powell record with a vault of 10 feet, 6 inches.

“Getting All-State was a relief because I’ve wanted it so bad but, honestly, had just not been good enough,” Craig said. “The best part was tying the school record, once I got that, I really didn’t care about the medals and All-State and everything else. I just want to get better and go higher.”

The Lady Panther trio got better and went about as high as they could in high school competition, with bigger things likely to come as Warner will be competing with the University of Wyoming track and field program, while Hanks and Craig are both deciding between offers.
