The one-two punch of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma, while mind-boggling in the devastation caused, will also be remembered for the ordinary, everyday people who stepped up to help their friends, neighbors and complete strangers in their hours of need.

The road from here to Cheyenne is long and often lonely. You can go miles without seeing anyone, and the landscape can be desolate.

EDITORIAL: The federal buck must stop somewhere

The United States government currently stands more than $19.8 trillion deep in debt. As of Thursday, the U.S. Treasury pegged the amount owed at exactly $19,844,586,961,607.12.

And you can expect that figure to only get worse.
