The fate of two kittens would have been drastically different if a local couple hadn’t heard them mewing from their hiding place Sunday evening.

Thanksgiving seems to be the holiday meant to be forgotten. Oh, sure, people are anxious to get together for a big dinner with all of their favorite foods that afternoon, but then it’s off to the races — the sprint (or for some, the 10K slog) to get to stores before other bargain hunters can grab up all the cool stuff for Christmas presents at the best prices.

Skiing off a ledge and soaring through the air until gravity brought him down was both a challenge and a thrill for Jack Levandoski of Powell.

John Stalick’s favorite number is 11.

“I just like the way it looks,” Stalick, of Cody, said last week.

When you don’t have family nearby, Thanksgiving can be a lonely day.

But no one in Powell has to be alone for the Thanksgiving holiday. Those who don’t have a private family holiday gathering are welcome to enjoy a traditional turkey dinner with all the trimmings at the 18th annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner at the Park County Fairgrounds. The meal will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 23.

About 100 people attended a meeting at the VFW in Cody Monday evening to learn more about the new veterans clinic that will open there around the end of November.

With Cody Hall closed this year due to problems with moisture and mold, Northwest College leaders are taking a serious look at options for the residence hall — and at their overall housing strategy for the campus.

A landscaping method used by a contractor likely saved money in 1984, but now its results will likely cost Northwest College millions of dollars in residence hall repairs.
