Hubert Lee Reid died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011 at Powell Valley Care Center. He was 87.

Hubert was born April 21, 1924 in Burlington to James Douglas and Amy Ann (Tanner) Reid. He attended school in Burlington and served in the Army during World War II in Europe. Hubert and Leah Jean Phillips were married Sept. 16, 1949 in Powell and they lived in San Diego, Calif., Moses Lake, Wash., Libby, Mont., and Powell. Hubert was a Research Aide at the University of Wyoming Research Station, where he retired after 25 years of service.

Hubert was caring and loving and was always supportive and understanding. He enjoyed road trips with his family, tinkering with farm equipment, especially old tractors, and he enjoyed farming. He was very proud of his service to his country during the war.

Hubert was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Jean, brothers Lawrence, Raymond, Verl, Fred, sister Josie Loudan, and son-in-law Keith Baxter.

He is survived by his son William ‘Bill’ (Karen) Reid of Powell; daughters Julie Baxter of Cowley, Valorie (Curtis) Perl of Powell; brothers Ralph (Willie) Reid of Billings, Vern Reid of Basin; sisters Jean DeGraide of Rhode Island, Cherry Dunaway of Kansas; three grandchildren, Jeanie (Ray) Sanders, Toni Perl (Mike D’Hoey), Christina Reid; and two great-grandchildren, Mercedes Sanders and Crandell Sanders.

Cremation has taken place and services will be held Friday, Dec. 30 at 2 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home.
