Estanislo ‘Stanley’ R. Gonzales

Estanislo “Stanley” R. Gonzales, 79, died Aug. 10 in Lynwood, Calif.

Stanley was born on Nov. 8, 1929, in Powell, the son of Josefa and Encarnacion Gonzales. He attended Powell schools and farmed with his father until he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1952. He served in the Korean War.

He married Esther Rodriguez in 1955, and she died in September 1957. He married Anita DeLeon on July 19, 1958. The couple moved to California where Stanley worked for General Motors for more than 27 years until he retired.

He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and doing all the things a grandpa enjoys. He especially loved cooking for them.

Stanley was a member of the Catholic Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion and the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife, Anita; sons Mark of Los Angeles and Richard of Fontana, Calif.; daughters Yvonne and Rita, both of Lynwood; a brother, Junior of Byron; sisters Annie Ramirez of Worland, Lupe Cortez of Powell, Josie Gonzales of Denver and Angie Carrasco of Powell; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Esther (Rodriguez) Gonzales; his parents; brothers Mars, Ernest, Donald, Alfred and Ben; and a sister, Carmen Guiterrez.

Funeral services and burial will be in California.
