Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, Dec. 31 at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church for long-time Heart Mountain resident, Alberta B. Jackson, who died Saturday, Dec. 27 at Powell Valley Hospital. She was 83.

Pastor David Pool will officiate at services and burial in Crown Hill Cemetery, under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home.

Visitation at the funeral home will be from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. tonight (Tuesday, Dec. 30).

Alberta was born in Galeton, Colo., daughter of Fred and Alice (Wedemeyer) Enger. She graduated as her high school valedictorian in Colorado and married William M. Jackson in Sommerset, Texas, on Sept. 19, 1943.  She and her husband, a veteran of World War II , settled on a homestead farm on Heart Mountain in 1950.

With her husband, Bill, she served as a National Weather Service volunteer for over 45 years of weather monitoring in the Heart Mountain area. Alberta was employed for 21 years with the U.S. Postal Service at the Powell Post Office.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of Powell and a nursing home volunteer for 14 years.

Survivors include include her husband, Bill; sons, David (Kathi) Jackson of Houston, Texas, Steve (Kirsten) Jackson of Powell, Dan (Connie) Jackson of San Antonio, Texas, and Bill (Judy) Jackson of Helena, Mont.; a daughter-in-law, Lynn Jackson of Powell; a sister, Ethyl Shuler of Powell; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Stan Jackson of Powell, in 2002.

Pallbearers at the funeral will be Todd Jackson, Shawn Jackson, Travis Jackson, Brian Jackson, Jordan Jackson and Ethan Jackson.
