Kathryn Sue Ley died Sunday, March 23 at Powell Valley Hospital. She was 57.

She was born Jan. 18, 1951 in Powell to Irene and the late Rudy Ley. She was a  very special, loving and caring person to all the people she met in her lifetime.

Kathy was born with cerebral palsy. While living at home her parents took excellent care of her for many years. When their health started to decline, they were forced to seek alternative ways for Kathy's care. She spent a year in the Cody Nursing Home and then moved to Big Horn Enterprises in Powell seven years ago. She was crowned sweetheart queen at the Valentine's ball and was proud of those who supported her in achieving the award. She also competed in and won many awards in the Special Games of Ability events.

Kathy enjoyed the simple things in life. Her time at Big Horn Enterprises were filled with enjoyment that allowed her to live life to the fullest and explore many new opportunities. She made new friends, traveled, and developed a broader vocabulary. She always greeted her loved ones with a smile and open arms, but if you did something wrong, she would tell you by shaking her finger at you. She loved just being with her family and taking care of her "babies," — her dolls.

Kathy is survived by her mother Irene of Lovell, her sister Sharon (Lyman) Sammons of Lovell, nephews Ty Sammons of Byron, Kyle Sammons of Rock Springs and her niece Keri Sammons of Lovell, and her friends and family at Big Horn Enterprises. She was preceded in death by her father, Rudy.

Memorial services will  be held at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lovell on Friday, March 28 at 10:30 a.m. Condolences may be sent to Irene Ley in care of Sharon Sammons at 709 Lane 11 in Lovell.

Thompson Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
