Former Cheyenne resident Perry C. DeWitt, 98, Powell, died Sunday evening, Oct. 27 at Powell Valley Hospital.

He was the first mechanic hired at Hallady Motors. An ace mechanic, he worked for several automobile dealerships and service stations. He was also a mechanic for the Cheyenne Police Department.

He loved his music and played guitar with many dance bands and his own band in and around Cheyenne. He enjoyed playing at the VA Hospital and the nursing homes.

Survivors include his wife Sylvia of Powell; his son, Carl DeWitt and wife Alice of Powell; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; two nephews in Cheyenne; and several relatives from the East Coast.

He was preceded in death by two wives, Ruby and Ella; a daughter, Katheryn; several brothers and sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services are tentatively set for 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 31 at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are under the supervision of Weiderspahn-Radomsky Funeral Home in Cheyenne.
