Funeral services for John (Blackie) Leis, 68, Buffalo, will be conducted today (Tuesday) at 10 a.m. from the Adams Funeral Home Chapel in Buffalo.

Mr. Leis died Friday, Oct. 25 in Buffalo. Burial will be in Willow Grove Cemetery there.

He was born April 18, 1934, in Buffalo to Kornad and Eva Leis. He grew up in Buffalo and attended Buffalo schools, graduating from Johnson County High School in 1952. After high school, he went to work in the oil fields.

He married Della Schroder in Buffalo on Jan. 22, 1956. They moved to Powell in the late 1950s where they lived and worked until 1977. Then they moved to Tucson, Ariz., where he was a foreman in a machine shop. They retired and moved back to Buffalo in 1995.

His wife died in June of 2001.

He was a member of the Eagles Lodge and loved to hunt, fish and spend time in the mountains with friends.

Survivors include two daughters, Sherrie Locke of Lovell and Christine Noakes and husband Charlie of Big Lake, Alas.; one brother, Bill Leis of Buffalo; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one son and three brothers. For those who wish, donations in his memory to the Buffalo Eagles Lodge would be appreciated by the family.
