He was born April 24, 1941, in Lovell to Deeward Ray and Myrtle (Durfee) Thompson. He was raised in Lovell and attended schools there.

He married Sherry Bauer of Powell on Oct. 14, 1961, in Powell. After short stays in Powell, Lovell and Dillon, Mont., they settled in Byron to raise their family.

Previously, he worked for Baker-Hughes in Powell for eight years, for Linton's Big R in Powell for seven years and for Georgia-Pacific in Lovell for six years.

Mr. Thompson was an avid hunter, fisherman and archer. He enjoyed nothing more than teaching someone the basics of archery, fishing, fly tying, hunting and reloading, especially his four sons and their friends and his grandchildren. He loved children and animals.

He decided to go live with his father for what he thought would be just a few months and ended up staying over four years until he had to put Dee in the nursing home.
