Funeral services are scheduled Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Union Presbyterian Church for a pioneer resident of Powell, Dorothy Lee Christensen, 85, who died Sunday, Aug. 5 at the Powell Nursing Home.
The Rev. Ron Kapalka will officiate at services. Burial will follow in the Cowley Cemetery.
She was born Dec. 26, 1915, to Albert and Ruby (Stewart) Baxter in Powell.
She married Melvin Garrison in 1936. One son, Gene Garrison, was born to this union.
On Feb. 14, 1952, she married LeRoy Christensen.
She worked at First National Bank in Powell for many years as a bookkeeper and teller.
She was a beautiful seamstress and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, needlework, gardening and raising flowers. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include one son, Gene Garrison and wife Donna of Powell; one grandson, Donny Garrison of Powell; and a granddaughter, Jeannie Cunningham and husband Brian of Powell; one sister, Jeanette Wilson and husband Harry of Powell; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two brothers.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. tonight (Tuesday) at Miratsky-Easton Funeral Home.
